Role overview

We are hiring a Backend Software Engineer with strong expertise in PHP and Python to join the WP Rocket Addons team. You will build and maintain server-side features, commercial platforms, internal CRM and e-commerce sites, and back-office tools that power our products and teams. This is a fully remote position with a global team, and requires availability within a defined time zone range.

What you will be doing

• Develop, test, deliver, and maintain backend services that meet quality and performance standards.
• Scope and collaborate on technical solutions and specifications for user stories in the backlog.
• Participate in agile sprints with Product and Engineering to implement and release features.
• Review pull requests and collaborate with peers to enforce code quality and standards.
• Drive continuous improvement in performance, maintainability, reliability, security, and scalability.
• Contribute to shared code libraries, processes, and technical decisions.
• Support operations and DevOps activities for the services you develop, including deployments and monitoring.

Requirements

• Solid expertise in PHP and Python, with proven experience building and maintaining production services used by large numbers of users.
• Strong ownership mindset, able to frame issues, propose solutions, and improve codebase quality.
• Experience with automated code validation and testing, including unit and integration testing.
• Passion for quality, observability, and continuous improvement in software engineering practices.
• Proficient English communication skills for collaboration with technical and non-technical teammates.

Desirable skills

• Experience with Django, WordPress, or Node.js is appreciated but not mandatory.
• Familiarity with DevOps tools and observability stack such as Kubernetes, Prometheus, Grafana, Sentry, and Kibana is a plus.
• Previous remote work experience and a startup mentality are beneficial.

Work model and timezone

This is a fully remote role. The team is distributed across many countries. Applicants should live or work in a time zone between UTC+3 and UTC-5 to facilitate collaboration. The team has flexible working hours, and candidates should be available around the team daily standup, currently at 2PM CET.
