EDI Developer at Applaudo

About the role

We are looking for an EDI Developer with strong Python and SQL expertise and deep experience working with 834/X12 transactions. The ideal candidate will support and optimize existing EDI workflows, contribute to migrating away from Orderful, and provide long-term continuity for client integrations. This is a remote role that requires schedule overlap with Mountain Time.

Schedule

9 AM - 7 PM (Mountain Time), required overlap.

Core competencies

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field is desirable.
• 3-5 years of experience in data management and integration processes.
• Solid proficiency in Python programming, including working with JSON data formats.
• Strong experience writing 834/X12 EDI transactions and practical knowledge of EDI standards.
• Experience producing CSV and flat file outputs for downstream systems.
• Familiarity with SFTP processes for secure data transfer.
• Integration proficiency - ability to troubleshoot and optimize end-to-end workflows.
• Technical writing skills and attention to detail for documentation and process clarity.
• SQL experience, BigQuery experience highly preferred.
• Excellent collaboration and communication skills, with advanced English required to work directly with US-based clients.

Responsibilities

• EDI and data transformation - assist in removing Orderful from existing processes, and transform data from JSON to X12 using BigQuery and SQL.
• Process optimization - review and improve SQL scripts, data pipelines, and BigQuery workflows to ensure best practices for file generation and reliability.
• Secure data transfer - manage and troubleshoot SFTP-based exchanges and ensure data integrity in transit.
• Documentation - produce clear technical documentation and runbooks to support handoffs and ongoing maintenance.
• Operational support - troubleshoot integration issues, propose improvements, and implement fixes to maintain continuity for clients.

Preferred experience

• Hands-on experience migrating integrations away from third-party EDI platforms such as Orderful.
• Prior work with BigQuery or other cloud data warehouses.
• History of working directly with US-based customers and meeting time zone overlap requirements.
