Halcyon.ai was founded in 2021 by cybersecurity veterans with past work at Boldend, Cylance (BlackBerry), Accuvant (Optiv), and ISS X-Force (IBM). The company is headquartered in San Diego, California, and has a fully distributed global workforce. 

The platform is built specifically to fight ransomware. It includes multiple protection layers, from prevention to response and uses AI/ML models trained purely on ransomware. It claims to reduce Mean Time To Recovery (MTTR) by up to 90% for customers, capture encryption keys to allow decryption, prevent damage from attacks, and protect other security agents from being bypassed.
