The Role
Cloud Test Engineer - Remote
We are seeking an experienced Cloud Test Engineer to strengthen our test automation, chaos engineering, and quality initiatives across Halcyon’s cloud platform. You will collaborate with development and chaos engineering teams to ensure APIs, UI, and backend components meet high reliability and security standards under diverse scenarios.
Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and enhance internal cloud API automation frameworks.
- Develop scalable automated test suites aligned with new feature development.
- Create clear, concise bug reports and maintain technical documentation.
- Build and improve performance testing tools for cloud services.
- Develop utilities to expand test coverage and validation across systems.
- Set up, manage, and optimize test environments for cloud applications.
- Configure, manage, and tune security scanning tools.
- Contribute to and uphold coding style, quality guidelines, and best practices.
Skills and Qualifications
- 3+ years of relevant experience as a Cloud Test Engineer, QA Automation Engineer, or similar role.
- Proficiency in Python for test development and automation.
- Experience with AWS services supporting cloud applications.
- Hands-on experience with containerization and orchestration such as Docker and Kubernetes.
- Understanding of microservices architecture and web API testing, including authentication and load testing.
- Familiarity with data formats and protocols such as JSON, Protobuf, and gRPC.
- Strong communication skills for documentation and reporting.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating closely within a dynamic, high-growth environment.
Bonus Skills
- Strong knowledge of PyTest framework concepts like parameterization and fixtures.
- Experience with additional languages such as Scala or JScript.
- Experience developing automated tests for Linux applications.
- Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines such as GitHub Actions.
- Understanding of web application security principles and AWS infrastructure security best practices.
- Familiarity with Docker/Kubernetes security and security tools such as SAST, DAST, SCA, or IaC scanners.

Compensation
Base Salary Range: $135,000 - $170,000. In accordance with applicable laws, this range is Halcyon’s reasonable estimate of base compensation and may vary based on experience, skills, and location. The role may be eligible for additional discretionary bonuses, incentives, and equity.
