The Role

We are hiring a Staff Engineer to lead the design and development of our cross-platform endpoint agent. This role will shape the architecture and future direction of our Windows, Linux, and macOS protection capabilities and deliver high-impact anti-ransomware features.

Responsibilities

• Own technical vision and architecture for the cross-platform endpoint agent, spanning user-space services, kernel drivers, and developer tooling.
• Design and implement advanced anti-ransomware features in collaboration with researchers, product managers, and engineers.
• Lead complex, cross-platform engineering efforts, balancing performance, scalability, reliability, and security.
• Mentor and grow engineers across the endpoint team, providing technical leadership and coaching.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex, high-impact technical issues during feature development and incidents.
• Define and improve engineering processes and standards across the team to raise quality and delivery velocity.
• Champion technical excellence and product quality, advocating best practices across design and implementation.

Skills and Qualifications

• Experience developing high-quality code in Rust (preferred) or C++.
• Proven track record building endpoint security products or similar low-level security systems.
• Prior staff-level or principal engineering experience, with focus on architecture and cross-team collaboration.
• Expert-level knowledge of low-level systems, including kernel or driver development on Windows, Linux, or macOS.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with ability to influence technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Compensation

Base Salary Range: $220,000 - $275,000. Bonus Target: 10%. This range is Halcyon’s reasonable estimate of base compensation for this role. Actual pay may vary based on non-discriminatory factors such as experience, skills, and location. The role may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses or incentives, and equity participation.
