About You

You are a master of frontend engineering with a designer's eye for detail. You understand how to build smooth, performant user experiences and can work closely with Product Managers, Designers, Frontend colleagues, and Infrastructure teams across the product lifecycle. You simplify complexity, ship high-quality work at scale, and enjoy mentoring others. A passion for games and chess is a plus.

What You'll Do

• Implement polished UI - Combine design, technology, and programming to deliver a seamless platform experience.
• Maintain platform quality - Identify, debug, and fix bugs, race conditions, performance bottlenecks, and memory issues.
• Collaborate cross-functionally - Work with design and development teams to implement new features and products.
• Create responsive layouts - Deliver pixel-perfect, fully responsive implementations with minimal and maintainable CSS.
• Contribute to team practices - Participate in PRs, code reviews, and knowledge sharing to raise team capability.

Preferred Skills

• Expert level CSS knowledge including Flexbox and Grid layout, and CSS preprocessors such as SCSS.
• Strong knowledge of Vue.js component architecture with TypeScript support.
• Experience using developer tools to trace, debug, and resolve root causes of complex frontend issues.
• Familiarity with local scope CSS strategies such as scoped CSS and CSS variables.
• Ability to create pixel perfect, fully responsive designs with minimal CSS and to work well in code reviews and team collaboration.
• Experience working on diverse teams, large projects, and high-traffic sites is a bonus.
• Strong collaboration and communication skills for distributed, remote teams.

About the Opportunity

This is a full-time position or equivalent. Chess.com is 100% remote and this role is open to applicants from anywhere. You will join a fully distributed engineering organisation and help build exceptional frontend experiences for millions of users.
