About the role

As a Senior Full-Stack Software Engineer on Discover, you will help evolve Circle’s curated marketplace for discovering and buying digital experiences such as communities, courses, and memberships. You will design and build high-converting product surfaces that power discovery, recommendations, listings, and purchasing flows. This role works across a Ruby on Rails backend and React / Next.js frontends, and focuses on performance, reliability, and elegant UX at scale.

What you'll be doing

• Build polished, high-converting purchasing experiences that help members discover digital experiences and enable creators to sell memberships, courses, and content at scale.
• Develop and maintain Next.js frontends while integrating with our existing Ruby on Rails and React codebase.
• Apply SSR, SSG, routing, and performance best practices for Next.js applications to deliver fast, SEO-friendly pages.
• Identify and remediate architectural deficiencies, raise the quality of the codebase, and improve engineering workflows.
• Collaborate closely with design and product leadership to shape features from concept to production, iterating quickly with data and user feedback.
• Own production-quality code, contribute to review processes, and drive a bias for action while maintaining high standards.

What you’ll need

• 5+ years experience as a full-stack engineer working on complex web applications at scale, handling high traffic and large data sets.
• Strong proficiency with Ruby on Rails for backend development, and with React and Next.js for frontends.
• Experience with relational databases such as MySQL or PostgreSQL, and familiarity with TypeScript and frontend tooling like Tailwind.
• Comfort working in a fast-paced, distributed environment and collaborating across time zones.
• Excellent communication skills in English, and strong product judgment with a user-first mindset.
• Ability to work autonomously, ship quickly, and iterate based on metrics and customer feedback.

Bonus points

• Previous work on creator platforms, social content feeds, or marketplaces.
• Production experience migrating or running hybrid React and Next.js systems at scale.
• Experience optimizing high-traffic Next.js applications and large-scale web performance.

Compensation

The cash compensation range for this role is $130,000 - $140,000 USD per year. In addition to base salary, Circle offers equity, benefits, and additional perks. Final offers consider experience, location, and other factors.
